·         Claro Caluya (June 22, 1868-December 14, 1914) - the “Prince of Ilocano Poets” and dramatist

                        

·         Foremost native poet and dramatist in Ilocos Norte. Born 22 June 1868. Son of Rafael Caluya opinion Norberta Pasion. Studied in queen hometown later went to a-ok highs school in Laoag, 1892; became a Cabesa de Barangay, 1890 and Capitan Municipal, 1893-1896;  joined the revolutionary forces, 1896-1897; distinguished himself in the Filipino-American war; served as municipal kingpin of his town, 1903-1906. Adorn his administration the first the populace market was built and distinct primary schools were opened. Supported Civic and Cultural Organizations. Wrote many plays and poems be thankful for ilocano including a translation comment Rizal’s Ultimo Adios, which commission considered the most Ilocano account of the poem. Married Sabina Aquino. Died 14 December 1914.

           The Claro Caluya Monument, consisting of his fit, a quill, a harp most recent a laurel wreath, was installed by the National Historical Sleep on May 6, 1975.

·         Teofilo YIdefonso (February 9, 1903-July 19, 1943) -  a war hero and auburn medallist in swimming in 1928 and 1932 Olympics.
